The Reactor Engineering and Catalyst Testing (REACT) core facility and the Mirkin group at Northwestern University have a joint postdoctoral position available in the design and fabrication of gas micro-analytical devices. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher with strong publication records to join our multidisciplinary research team. They will develop analytical technology for the detection and quantification of gas products sampled from flat surfaces supporting nanoparticle catalyst arrays (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1126/science.aaf8402). The position is funded for one year and renewable for up to two years (subject to available funding and performance evaluation). The selected candidate will gain experience in advanced nanoparticle synthesis techniques and catalyst testing, among related techniques

Qualifications:

Candidate should have completed a doctorate level degree within the last three years or soon to be completed in physics, chemistry, material science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline. Previous experience in the following areas is highly desired:

  • Strong background/understanding of chromatography, IR spectroscopy, and/or Raman spectroscopy.
  • Hands-on experience designing and fabricating microdevices.
